This article is devoted to mapping the conceptual metaphor in the poems of Sergei Yesenin and Haj Czy. The authors reveal the notion of conceptual metaphor and describe the principles of its functioning in the poetic text. Special attention is paid to the study of nationally determined foundations of the metaphoric images of a birch tree and wheat in more than 15 poems written by S. Yesenin and Haj Czy. The study proves that the main function of conceptual metaphors of birch and wheat realized in the Russian and Chinese poetry is to model the symbolic image of human emotions. In the works of S. Yesenin and Haj Czy, metaphor approaches the symbol and becomes the way of its conceptualization. The function of this complex literary image creating means can be represented by a scheme, where birch and wheat are referred to the source domain of the mapping, and the human inner world becomes associated with the target domain.
