This paper is an attempt to do a comparative study which is focusing on different methods of teaching Chinese as a second foreign language to Russian and other foreign students at Tyumen State University. It is of great significance to overcome the language barrier while learning Chinese and enhance the Chinese teaching standard. Thus, the authors propose various teaching methods, contributing not only to teaching Chinese to Russian students and other foreign students, but also to sinologists for further study.

In their comparative analysis the authors discuss linguistic features of the Chinese language and its dissimilarity with the Russian language; moreover, this article lists 4 major obstacles for the Russian students at the first stage of their studies, as well as the strategy to overcome them.

  1. Xǔ Shèn,《ShuoWenJieZi》, it was the first to use the principle of organization by sections with shared components. He finished editing it in 100, but due to an unfavorable imperial attitude towards scholarship, he waited until 121 before having his son Xǔ Chōng present it to Emperor An of Han along with a memorial. Xǔ Shèn states in his postface that the dictionary has 9,353 character entries, plus 1,163 graphic variants, with a total length of 133,441 characters. The transmitted texts vary slightly in content, owing to omissions and emendations by commentators, and modern editions have 9,831 characters and 1,279 variants. Xu Shen analytically organized characters in the comprehensive Shuowen Jiezi through their shared graphic components, which Boltz calls "a major conceptual innovation in the understanding of the Chinese writing system
