This article is devoted to some issues of artistic reconstruction of women’s clothing of the Upper Ob population in the Early Iron Age. The difference between the graphical, modelled, and 3D-reconstruction of the costume and the one proposed in the article is pointed out. The experience of a professional artist dealing with an archaeological costume is generalized and implemented for reconstructions of a female costume of the Upper Ob population in Scythian time from Bystrovka-1 and Novotroitskoe-2 burials. The subjectivity of the method and retraction of the elements of the clothing set into the background seem to be common problem areas of graphic pictorial reconstructions. Fragmentary source base caused by looting the burial complex, as well as badly preserved organics, and the absence of the whole clothing set are the main drawbacks of the reconstruction process. To provide costume general reconstruction scheme is sometimes difficult due to the occasional character of clothing decorations even if there are some significant analogies.
