Tyumen Church Institutions Social And Public Activities In The XVIII — Early XX Century

Abstract:

In the article the author defines Church institutions activity in its historical and social aspects, indicates in the problems around the creation Church schools, stresses the active role of clergy in religious education and socio-moral work with the population. The aim of the presented investigation is to describe the process of the influence of church on the local society. As a result of the research the conclusion was made that social activities of church in the town of Tyumen was sufficiently extensive in the XVIII-XX century, including school teaching, preaching, working in hospitals and prisons, etc. The article describes social policy of the Orthodox Church in Tyumen, especially in the sphere of education, the aim of which was to raise the cultural level of the local population.
