The article deals with the process of development of information competence of students and secondary school pupils. The authors of the article present the results of studying this process and possible conditions for its improvement. The authors come to the conclusion about the necessity of developing information competence of students in the integrative connection with the development of other personal and social competencies, including those relating to the evaluation sphere of an individual. The research contains some examples of students at economic universities studying different topics using information and communication technologies. Specific teaching material for using in the classroom in the secondary school (for example, the study of Russian literature) is presented in the article. It is shown that the actualization of visual perception of information leads to increased motivation to acquire new knowledge and develop new competencies.
