The author analyzes the researches of modern German scientists, who published scientific works, different in volume and depth of scientific development, for the last four years. These works highlight some heterogeneous aspects of naval policy of Kaiser Germany in the prewar period. German historians, despite the solid almost hundred years’ historiography of this problem, are still interested in it. In the generalizing works on the history of the First World War and also in special articles and monographs they address traditional and new aspects of the course of the political and military administration of the Second Reich on creation of the powerful Navy, complying with the advanced technical requirements. On the basis of the considered material the authors show that the issue of the role of German naval policy in deterioration of the relations with Great Britain as one of the catalysts of the First World War is still important in the present German historiography on the naval subject. The authors note that among new phenomena there is an attempt to level “the German fault” on the evidential basis and to dissolve it in shared responsibility. Keywords:
