Abstract:

This article is research in the field of ethnolinguistics. It is dedicated to the research of the Russian traditional material culture. By using the method of a free associative experiment, the author is trying to reconstruct one of the fragments of the modern Russian linguistic worldimage. As for the material for our study, we used lexemes of the theme groups «Tool» and «Household item», extracted from the culturally marked field of set expressions. During the analysis of the material obtained in the experiment the author is distinguishing the main kinds of reactions most frequent for the analyzed lexemesincentives. Those are primarily thematic and paradigmatic reactions. A special place is occupied by quotations, proverbs, fairytale sayings, novel reactions, as well as reactions associated with the idea of the world of devilry. All the facts allow the author to assert that the associative field of the analyzed lexemes is formed not only with the help of involvement of the denominated items in the modern everyday life, but also due to their language and cultural links.
