Abstract:

The article deals with the transformation of the socio-cultural construction of gender in modern Russian society as represented in the various spheres of life. A review of psychological and sociological research on the gender specificity is shown in the course of professional managerial activities in the political and economic spheres. It noted the intensification of women’s representation in the higher echelons of the legislative and executive authorities, as well as management positions in almost all professional fields, which corresponds to the global trends and the main directions of socio-economic development of Russia.

The objects of analysis were the social and psychological aspects of gender preference in the manifestation of leadership potential, management style, choice of career, motivation and values. The results show that women possess the qualities that contribute to the effective management activities corresponding to the democratic stage in the development of society. In addition to that the age and sphere of professional activity prove to be less important for a successful career woman, than the effective resolution of the balance between active involvement in professional and family sphere. Further scientific and practical research is necessary to find the most effective gender patterns of business activity, the optimal modern socio-economic development of society. These factors are another proof of the high management capacity, possessed by women, which may open up new opportunities for economic development for Russia.
