The paper considers the problem of displacement of high-viscosity oil by saturated steam continuously injected into the formation. For this process, a system of mathematical equations was presented using the Likhachev-Fogelson equation of state for the water and oil phases. Non-dimensionalization of the system of equations made it possible to identify a similarity complex that determines the ratio of the intensity of heat losses to the rate of heat supply to the porous medium. For various values of the introduced critical number, the fields of pressure, temperature and saturation of the phases were calculated. Analysis of the obtained results made it possible to identify the dependence of the displacement efficiency on the introduced critical number. The results of the work can be used in the field of development of design for the development of fields with high-viscosity oil. Keywords:
