Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Dr. Sci. (Phys.-Math.), Professor, Research supervisor of the Khristianovich Institute of Theoretical and Applied Mechanics of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Deputy Chairman of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences (Novosibirsk, Russia).
World-class specialist in the field of mathematical modeling of problems of continuum mechanics and engineering. He is the founder of a scientific school on modeling shock-wave processes in multicomponent and heterogeneous mediums. Developed the theory of combined rupture and shock waves in media such as mixtures of gases and solid particles; differential shock wave analyzer method; pulsed mechanism of the destruction of bodies at high loading rates; cascade throwing of shells; methods for reducing the resistance of bodies in supersonic gas flows by applying a shock system of particles, thin liquid jets or a glowing electrical discharge to a head shock wave. Together with his students, he created a unique complex of physical and mathematical models, numerical methods and complex programs for calculating on a computer multidimensional unsteady gas dynamics problems, deformable solids and multiphase media that are embedded in industry research institutes and design bureaus of machine-building organizations in the country. Under his leadership and with the direct participation, gas-dynamic multifunctional friction machines and automated laser-technological complexes were created, which successfully operate in the factories of the country. Included in the editorial council of the journal, section "Fluid, Plazma, and Gas Mechanics".
