The article presents the dynamics of the social well-being of the rural population in the period from 2012 to 2023. The study is based on materials from the Siberian region of Khakassia. The empirical basis was the data from sociological surveys in 2012 (n=451), 2018 (n=500) and 2023 (n=460). The article analyzes such parameters of social well-being as the state of health, the level of financial situation, satisfaction and expectations of the future. The author notes the contradictory nature of the change in social well-being: despite the improvement in the financial situation of rural residents, the general dissatisfaction with life among them is growing. The reason for this is the difficult economic conditions and the difficult environmental situation. Despite this, the population of rural Khakassia is optimistic about the future. The conducted research distinguishes an integrated approach both to measuring social well-being (its main parameters) and to analyzing possible factors of influence (economic, environmental, political). The novelty of the data obtained is confirmed by the fact that, using the example of the region under study, this is the first detailed study aimed at analyzing changes over a fairly long period of time (11 years). Keywords:
