So far, the global digitalization of society has mediated the need for a detailed study of digital rights. The safeguarding of user data does not only depend on the integrity and reliability of digital services providers; in the event of a breach of users’ privacy, the counterparties’ professional liability and avenues for compensation should also be considered. Duplicate avenues for the realization of rights outside the network/digital continuum should be preserved. This article studies the key features of digital rights as specific objects of civil legal relations. The authors analyze the mechanisms for protecting digital rights which regulate information systems and the Internet. Moreover, storing digital rights has its own specifics, as it is difficult to distinguish a digital copy from the original. Keywords:
