Currently, many people recognize the need to take into account the cultural factor. However, the lack of a unified approach to the classification of values as well as insufficient empirical study of this issue significantly complicate the implementation of the culturological approach to management.
The scientific novelty of the work lies in the following aspects:
1) the use of a critical approach to the identification of economically significant cultural values;
2) the integration of cultural measurements by Schwartz and the methodology of the study of the sociological organization “World Value Survey” for the purpose of qualitative and quantitative measurement of the cultural factor;
3) the development of the classification of values by the nature of the impact on the economic result.
The relevance of the study is determined by the following factors: a low degree of development, interdisciplinary, discussion, and conformity to the world agenda of scientific research.
The purpose of scientific research is to identify the interrelation between cultural factors and the level of economic development.
This research used methods of literature review, study and synthesis of domestic and foreign practice, correlation, statistical and comparative analyzes.
The results of the study include:
1) highlighting the issues which the World Value Survey agreed upon with Schwartz’s classification of values;
2) a correlation analysis of the relationship between cultural values and the level of economic development expressed in GDP per capita according to PPP;
3) production of the maps of the location of countries in the indicated dimensions;
4) formation of the cultural profiles of countries.
This work presents the analysis of interrelation of cultural values and level of economic development of the states. The results of the study have allowed dividing the values into contributing and hindering economic development, as well as specific values, the economic effect of which is dependent on the institutional environment. Also within the framework of the study, cultural profiles of groups of countries were constructed.
