Abstract:

The paper discusses the features of undocumented labour migration. An empirical study of the extent of undocumented immigrant workers in various regions of Russia is conducted. Based on the results of a survey of expert opinions, as well as on the undocumented migration adjustment factor, the paper gives a provisional number of undocumented immigrant workers in the Russian Federation. The reasons for the growth of illegal employment of migrant workers in the Russian economy are revealed. The author studies the current quota system for recruitment of foreign workers and analyzes its shortcomings. The ways of the improvement of the regulatory system for labour migration in the country are outlined.
