The paper examines the activity of domestic businesses in corporal social responsibility (CSR) and environmental initiatives. The survey results were achieved by using the method of content analysis and tag-cloud techniques applied to the web-sites of over 500 biggest Russian companies. The results allow to form the index of corporate social responsibility development and to evaluate the activity of Russian businesses in preserving the environment. The article aims to determine the dominant practices of CSR in Russia in the sphere of ecology. The methodological basis of the research is based on the content analysis of the information posted on the companies' websites, as well as the visualization of the data taken from the companies' social media accounts as tag-clouds. The analysis of the index of corporate social responsibility suggests that the majority of the biggest Russian companies are at the initial stage of the formation of CSR strategies and do not pay enough attention to the protection of the environment. The results of the study may be used for the improvement of the performance of departments engaged in the implementation of policies of corporate social responsibility.
