Problems of spatial development of russia: the search path or on the search path?

Abstract:

The article deals with a review of the collective monograph «Fundamental Issues of Spatial Development of the Russian Federation: Interdisciplinary Synthesis», Moscow: Media-Press, 2013. The basis of this fundamental work is constituted of the results of the 24th scientific program of the Presidium of Russian Academy of Sciences, which was organized by Academician A.G. Granberg. Research teams from over 30 institutions of the five branches of the Russian Academy of Sciences, its three regional offices and a number of regional research centers were involved in its realization. Among the many resolved scientific problems, presented in the monograph, we note the following: a synthesis of the concepts of territorial and spatial development, elaborated in the framework of economic theory and economic geography, organizational science, law, international relations theory, and the creation of an integrated theory of spatial development on the basis of all the above and some other branches of science; a typology of spaces, built according to various criteria (occupation by institutions, types and levels of assimilation, etc.); creation of assessment methodologies of the spatial development of different areas of the country, the region, elaborating on the degree of unevenness and quality differences of such development; creation of methods and systems of a complex multi-level division (zoning) of the territory and territorial waters of Russia; establishment and characterization of territorial structures of different levels in their interaction and development; a comparative analysis of trends in modern transformation of territorial structures in developed countries and in Russia; creation of scientific bases of regional policy for planning a long-term socio-economic development of Russia; elaboration of proposals on the organization of scientific expertise of management decisions in the field of spatial development of the Russian Federation; elaboration on the theoretical and methodological foundations of the interdisciplinary study of spatial development. We noted not only positive sides of work, but also some drawbacks, which, however, did not lessen the fundamental character and scientific significance of the presented results.
