Abstract:

The given work deals with the description of clinical cases of diagnostics of gastrointestinal tract diseases using a confocal laser endomicroscopy (CLEM). The author shares the view of practitioners that this new noninvasive technique allows during the standard endoscopic procedure in vivo in real time to obtain images of the mucosa of the gastrointestinal tract in high resolution [the so-called virtual biopsy]. The author believes that the use of confocal laser endomicroscopy expands diagnostic capabilities. CLEM does not damage the mucosa and allows to monitor its status over time. The main CLEM advantage is fast diagnosis and an opportunity to begin early treatment.
